Transposed Form FIR Filters

This application note describes a high-speed, reconfigurable, full-precision Transposed Form FIR filter design implemented in the VirtexTM and Virtex-II series and SpartanTM-II family of FPGAs. The VHDL reference design provided with this application note is easily modified to change filter parameters including coefficients and the number of taps. By illustrating a design methodology for digita...

Analytical design of FIR filters

A new recursive algorithm for the impulse response coefficients of a FIR lowpass filter is developed. The algorithm is obtained from the differential equation for the amplitude response of a lowpass filter. While the original filter exhibits maximally flat frequency response, the abridging of the impulse response provides a frequency response comparable to those obtained by other design methods.

Asymptotic behaviour of FIR filters

The recursive algorithm for the impulse response coefficients of FIR filters with maximally flat specifications [4] was recently developed. Based on differential equation for the almost equiripple specifications [2] a similar recursion is derived and presented in this paper. Both backward recursions give an explicit access to the evaluation of asymptotic values to which the impulse response coe...

Least{squares Multirate FIR Filters

The authors propose a new least{squares design procedure for multirate FIR lters with any desired shape of the (band{limited) frequency response. The aliasing, inherent in such systems, is implicitly taken into account in the approximation criterion.
